Be a Good Person

….Just try really hard to be a good person. I’ve thought about this for a long time and couldn’t find other words to say it so, try really hard to be a good person. Be a person who other people want to be around. When we truly understand the purpose of our lives, we realize that part of why we’re here is to benefit those around us to some extent and to varying degrees. Matthew 5 is where my focus is when I think and study on this topic. The Amplified version defines the word blessed as “happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous-with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation regardless of their outward conditions.”
1. In order to be good, we must be able to acknowledge good. When I think back to my personal dark places in life, I remember a version of me who just complained all the time about everything. I could have received a million dollars and still find a reason to say something negative. I remember a me who a lot of people didn’t want to be bothered by because I carried that negativity with me and tried to take others down with me. That is the opposite of what we’re supposed to do. How often do you reflect on yourself and assess how much you think others enjoy being around you? Are you a person who causes others to feel joy in your presence or are they led to feel despair?
2. “….to be envied…” Knowing that we usually speak on envy as being a bad thing, I do believe that there exists an envy that is inspiring. This type of envy is an envy that causes us to want things that we see other people have and when this envy is controlled, it motivates us to work towards whatever that may be. Maybe it's because this type of envy ignites passion, but when we are living out our best selves, it should push those around us to want to find their best self and live that out as well. Are you an example for your friends of how to live life and enjoy life? Are you currently walking in success or achievement that pushes your friends to chase their dreams as well?
3. “….regardless of their outward conditions…” I’ve said it before in posts already made, but joy is a constant state of being regardless of situations and circumstances. Our condition shouldn’t be predicated on things that are happening to us or have happened to us. We can serve as living examples of what that looks like. Everybody knows that everybody goes through things. We don’t have to broadcast that. Therefore, when we are constantly walking around and being positive, others can see and find belief that they can do the same.
It is my hope and my prayer in promoting the Starr Life that we all come to understand the power that we have to influence others when we are able to appreciate life and constantly live in that and walk around in that. When we live like this, we show that we are appreciative for our own lives and that we have a care and desire for others to find their ability to appreciate their lives too.

That's what it's all about. Be a good person that causes other people to be good as well. Be the salt and the light of the world. Salt brings flavor to our food. It makes things taste better. Light allows us to see in darkness. Let's strive every day to be shiny and flavor-full. If we are all walking in this, I strongly believe that we would see a drastic change in our communities wherever we are and we should all want to be positive influences in our communities.
